Find your people, the halal way
Halal Meetups is a community platform built by Muslims, for Muslims. We make it easy to find groups, attend events, and build genuine friendships — in a space that reflects your values.
Why we built this
The Muslim community in the UK is huge. But finding your people — actually finding them, in person, regularly — is still harder than it should be.
Meetup isn't built for us. Facebook groups go quiet. WhatsApp chains are chaos. And the few spaces that do exist weren't designed with halal values in mind.
So I built something that was. Events organised properly, brothers with brothers, sisters with sisters — nothing haram, nothing awkward. Just good people in good company.
We're starting in Birmingham — my hometown — because that's where we know the community best. We're launching in May with our first six events, and once we've built something that works here, we'll take it to the rest of the UK and beyond.
One city at a time.
Who built this
Halal Meetups was founded by Zakariya Mohummed, a Somali Muslim based in Birmingham. Seeing how hard it was to find genuine halal social spaces, he built the platform he wished had existed — starting with the city he knows best.

What we stand for
Real company, in person
This isn't another app to scroll. It's a reason to actually show up. We care about people being in the same room — not just connected online.
Halal by design
Halal isn't a filter we added at the end. No free-mixing, no compromises, nothing that goes against our deen. That's not a restriction — it's the whole point.
Birmingham first
We started here because this is home. We're going deep before we go wide — building something that actually works in one city before taking it anywhere else.
Brothers and sisters
Separate spaces, same mission. Brothers with brothers, sisters with sisters — organised properly, with approval-based groups so you know what you're walking into.
